The brief

The client wants a story, not another fashion film: a woman who starts with no jewelry, searches, and ends wearing it.

Film
One hero film, 16:9, 60 to 120 seconds, no speech, a few lines of small on-screen text in English. It will also play on a horizontal TV.
Shoot
One day, Oct 9, 2026, in the dunes on the Cape. Paula is the talent.
Asked for
  • She opens without jewelry and touches bare skin
  • She is lost and melancholic
  • She runs the dunes to exhaustion
  • The same touch returns once the jewelry is on
  • She finds the branded case
  • She ends in the sea after dark, soaked
Music
Chosen by the client. A melancholic track first, the beat rising when she runs, then a blend of two tracks to open the fashion section.
Wardrobe
As many looks as the day allows.
Left out
Workshop and gold-making footage, which the client is saving for a separate campaign.
Ambition
The client plans to enter the campaign at Cannes Lions.

Source: the planning call with Cassiano. Five agents were run. AG05 and AG06 were not run, by request.

The story

She begins bare and ends adorned, and the film is the distance between the two.

Lines set like this are the on-screen text. The pieces named here are placeholders until Paula’s selection arrives.

I. Bare

0:00 to 0:18
Close-up of a bare shoulder in warm sunlight, nothing on the skin.
0:00

Skin, close. A hand moves slowly along a collarbone, the way you touch a place where something used to be. A wrist with nothing on it. An ear, bare, hair blowing across it.

A wide view of rolling dunes. She stands small on a ridge in a pale dress, looking away.

Sometimes life doesn’t make sense.

0:09

Then the world opens and she is very small. One woman in a sea of sand, dunes rising on every side with no end in sight. She turns one way, then the other. She does not know where she is going.

Her face, close, in warm light, looking straight ahead. She looks back over a bare shoulder. A gold earring, a necklace and bracelets catch the sun. Her hand, wearing gold rings and a hand chain, lets sand pour through her fingers. Her face seen through wind-blown fabric, a gold earring and necklace in the light. She stands on a dune crest, seen from behind, her dress lifted by the wind. She strides down a steep dune, gathering her dress in one hand. A polished gold pendant. In its curve, the dunes and her small figure on a ridge. The wide dune field again. She stands on the ridge and holds the frame. Her silhouette walks down a dune against the low sun. Light flares through her dress. Her face at sunset, close. A band of light crosses her eyes, a gold earring beside it.
0:38

Everything goes still.

But…

III. Gold

0:42 to 1:06
0:42

Something catches the light.

Her face, close, in warm light, looking straight ahead.
0:44

A few steps away, half buried, a case. She brushes the sand off and opens it. A warm glow climbs her face, and for the first time her eyes change.

She looks back over a bare shoulder. A gold earring, a necklace and bracelets catch the sun.

There is a beauty that can’t be learned.

0:52

She lifts out the first piece and closes it around her neck. Her hand travels along her collarbone again. The same gesture as before, except now there is gold under her fingers.

Her hand, wearing gold rings and a hand chain, lets sand pour through her fingers.

Can’t be copied.

A ring finds her hand.

Her face seen through wind-blown fabric, a gold earring and necklace in the light.

Can’t be explained.

An earring catches the sun.

She stands on a dune crest, seen from behind. She looks back over her shoulder, gold at her ear and neck. She strides down a dune, dress in hand.
1:00

The beat is strong now, and she is a different woman. A new look, then another, then another, the same dunes behind her.

A fine chain pours through her fingers the way the sand did.

A polished gold pendant. In its curve, the dunes and her small figure on a ridge.

In the curve of her ring the whole landscape sits, tiny.

She stands on the ridge of the dune field and holds the frame.

She is not crossing this place anymore. It belongs to her.

Her silhouette walks down a dune against the low sun. Light flares through her dress.

The sun drops and turns everything the color of what she is wearing.

Her face at sunset, close. A band of light crosses her eyes, a gold earring beside it.

One last look at her eye, close, a point of gold in it.

IV. The sea

1:06 to 1:24
1:06

Then the sun is gone and the world is blue.

It happens when you choose to be you.

1:10

She runs again, and this time she is not looking for anything. Straight into the ocean, water breaking around her legs, clothes soaked, hair soaked, gold shining on wet skin.

1:17

For a moment we are half under the surface with her: dark water below, the last light above.

Because the rarest jewel will always be your authenticity.

On the sand, the case sits open and empty. Everything it held is on her now. Inside the lid, the PS logo.

Creative direction

One rule governs the film: every piece she wears at the end has an empty place shown at the start.

  1. A hand moves slowly along a collarbone Her hand travels along her collarbone again, gold under her fingers
  2. A wrist with nothing on it A ring finds her hand
  3. An ear, bare, hair blowing across it An earring catches the sun
  4. Sand runs through her fingers until her hand is empty A fine chain pours through her fingers the way the sand did
The mirror, taken from the story. Each pair is framed identically, so the eye reads it as one cut made half a film apart. The pieces are placeholders until Paula’s selection arrives.
  • Governing device

    The mirror.

Each bare gesture in the first half returns in the second half with the piece on. It comes from the client’s own image: her hand on bare skin, then on the jewel.

Corpus basis: Identity filter: “Cinema is decision”; a beautiful video is not enough

  • Where the case sits

At the midpoint, as the turn.

It returns as the last frame, empty.

Corpus basis: Turning point at 40 to 60% of the runtime (AG02 P03, 17/20)

  • Escalation

    Slingshot: slow, then explosive.

It matches the client’s music plan.

    Corpus basis: Rule 07; REF-008

  • Impact vs information

    90/10.

No specs and no claims; the only information is seven short text cards and one logo.

    Corpus basis: Rule 01 default; P01 (20/20)

  • Positioning

    Aspiration plus Authority.

Authority here is restraint: no product for half the film, no workshop, no claims.

Corpus basis: Rule 04, never a single axis (17/20); REF-006

  • Tone

Lost to found, raw to polished.

One change of tone, at the turn.

    Corpus basis: Rule 08 (12/20); REF-003

  • Palette

    Two colors, gold and blue.

Sand, skin and metal on one side; sky, sea and dusk on the other.

    Corpus basis: Rule 11 (16/20); REF-014

  • Hook

Frame one is bare skin in close-up.

No black, no fade, no logo.

    Corpus basis: Rule 06 (20/20); REF-011

  • Call to action

    None.

The logo and the campaign name carry it.

    Corpus basis: Rule 10

Limits

  • No workshop or gold-making inserts. Client decision.
  • Wardrobe in neutrals, so gold and blue stay the only colors. A recommendation for Paula (Rule 11: never five or more colors competing).
  • Runtime of 90 seconds. The corpus tops out at 110 seconds and sets a two-minute ceiling.
  • No fade at the open, no dissolves, no flat frontal light.

Fixed-identity check (Rule 05)

The first half relaxes aggressive pacing. Beat-led cutting, high contrast and moving text all stay, and VFX was not assessed. One fixed element relaxed out of six, so the project is compatible.

AG02

Visual structure

Four blocks in 90 seconds, with the turn at 0:42 (47%), the moment she finds the case.

The blocks run 18, 24, 24 and 24 seconds, and the last 6 seconds are the closing image. Progression is by revelation: each block adds one thing the block before did not have.

Energy climbs from 2 to 9, and the turn at 0:42 splits the film in two

Logo held in silence

If the film loops on a store screen, the last frame and the first rhyme: an empty case, then bare skin.

Corpus basis7
  • Four to five blocks for anything over 60 seconds (Rule 02). REF-001 runs 89 seconds in four blocks.
  • The turn sits between 40 and 60% (Rule 03). REF-008 turns at 53%.
  • The film opens on a detail, never on context or an establishing wide (Rule 01, 20/20).
  • A payoff at least every 15 seconds (Rule 07). The longest gap here is 9 seconds.
  • One new idea per block (Rule 09; REF-001 changes only location from block to block).
  • Blocks join on hard cuts with a change in the music. No dissolves, no fades: zero occurrences in the corpus (Rule 08).
  • The closing is the type where the music stops and the logo holds in silence (REF-006). Here the logo lives inside the last image instead of on a separate card.

AG03

On-screen text

No speech. Seven short cards carry her inner voice, and none of them describes what is on screen.

T1 and T2 are the client’s words from the call. T3 to T7 are his guiding line in Portuguese, put into English and cut into one idea per card. He said he would refine the English himself, so treat this wording as a base.

Flags

  • T7 is the weakest card.

“Authenticity” is abstract and the line leans toward motivational copy, which the Haze filter rejects. Placing it over the empty case gives it something concrete to sit on. It deserves one more pass with Cassiano.

  • Campaign name: input missing.

Paula is choosing it and it will be in French. A slot is reserved under the logo. When it arrives, check T1 and T7 against it.

  • Type treatment belongs to AG06, which was not run.

The client wants very small, thin, centered type. Two corpus constraints to hand to post: every card animates in and out, and each lands on a cut or a beat. Static text has zero occurrences in the 20 references (P05).

  • Legibility.

Test the type size on the actual TV at viewing distance. Small, thin type can disappear on a store screen.

Corpus basis5
  • No speech is the default for aspirational work (Rule 01). Eight of the 20 references have none.
  • One sentence, one idea, one cut (P02, P06). As a single block the client’s line runs 31 words; the norm is 3 to 12 per line and the limit is under 20 (Rule 02).
  • The first card is a statement, not a question or a greeting (Rule 04).
  • Text and image say different things (Rule 05; REF-008).
  • No funnel, so the call to action is implicit: logo and campaign name (Rule 07).

AG04

Edit and rhythm

The cut starts at 13 cuts per minute and ends at 37, with 39 cuts in 90 seconds: 26 per minute, against a corpus mean of 25.8.

AG05 was not run, so the grid comes from the client’s two tracks. Their tempo and the blend point are needed before any cut is locked (P06: find the track’s grid first).

Slow, then fast, with two breaths

Cut types
Hard cuts for about four in five (P03, 18/20). Styled cuts are punctuation only: match cuts for the mirror pairs and for each change of look.
Mirror pairs
Each bare gesture and its twin with the piece on are framed identically, so the eye reads them as one cut made half a film apart.
Speed
Two slow-motion moments, both on impact: the run opening up and the first hit of water (P04: one to three per film). Both need high-frame-rate capture, as do the falling sand and the chain.
Breaths
A 4-second hold before the turn and the 6-second closing (P07; REF-001 holds at 0:36 before its stop).
Day to dusk
A hard cut on color, gold to blue. No dissolve.
Muted playback
Cut on her movement as well as on the beat, so the rhythm still reads on a silent screen.

REF-008 moves from about 8 to about 30 cuts per minute across its turn, the same shape as this film. REF-001 (89 seconds, 37 per minute) and REF-009 (110 seconds, 19 per minute) bracket it.

Production notes, outside the corpus

  • The blue and orange of the waterline reference needs dusk, not full night. For about half an hour after sunset the sky still gives blue; later the sea goes black.
  • Waterline shot: camera inside the glass tank, lowered to the surface in calm, shallow water.
  • A true macro lens and a long zoom are not in the Haze kit. Both go on the rental list.
  • Mirror pairs: keep a reference still of each bare-skin framing, so its twin can be matched hours later.
Corpus basis9
  • Wide and macro, skipping the medium shot (P02, 16/20; REF-015). The pieces are delicate, so they only read in true macro.
  • Off-center by default, symmetry as an intentional exception (P04, 15/20). The exception is saved for the moment she finds the case.
  • The subject looks into negative space (P10; REF-012). Here it also plays as searching. No look into the lens anywhere.
  • Low angle for product and action (P09, 12/20). REF-011 makes a keyboard monumental the same way.
  • Handheld for action, stabilized for beauty, tripod for macro (Rule 01). No gimbal on the run.
  • Movement tied to the beat, stillness on the stop (P03; REF-001, REF-006).
  • Shallow depth with a foreground element (P05, P06; REF-008). Deep focus only for aerials.
  • Apparent lenses, as estimates only (Rule 07, evidence level 3): long for compressed dune wides and the run, wide for the water, normal for her portraits, macro for skin and metal.
  • Limits: no tilt beyond 15 degrees, no digital zoom, no snap zoom, no split screen.

Deviations from the corpus

Four choices depart from the 20-video corpus on purpose, and each has a reason the client can be given.

  1. Corpus default: Sensory progression with no character arc (16/20)

This film: A character with an arc: lost, then found

Reason to give the client: You asked for a story, not another fashion film. The arc rides on four sensory blocks and nothing is explained.

  2. Corpus default: Aggressive pacing from frame one

This film: A slow first half

Reason to give the client: Melancholy needs room, and the slow start is what makes the turn hit. Six of the 20 references use the same slingshot shape.

  3. Corpus default: Text as a moving, dominant visual element

This film: Small, thin, quiet cards

Reason to give the client: The tone you asked for: fine, not loud. Each card still animates in and out on the cut.

  4. Corpus default: Scripts in Portuguese with English terms

    This film: English text

Reason to give the client: The film speaks to an English-speaking audience.

Music was chosen by the client and was not assessed here, since AG05 was not run.

Execution checklist

One day, four stages, ordered by the light. The sea comes last because she cannot be dry again.

  1. 1

    Morning to midday

    Bare and Search

Everything without jewelry: bare-skin close-ups, the walk, the run, the fall, sand through her fingers. The pieces stay in the case.

  2. 2

    Mid-afternoon

    The case

Finding it, opening it, the light on her face.

  3. 3

    Late afternoon to sunset

    Gold

Each piece going on, the mirror close-ups, the chain, the ring reflection, every change of look. The eye close-up goes last, right at sunset.

  4. 4

    Dusk

    Sea and closing

The run into the water and the waterline shot. A second camera takes the empty case on the sand at the same time.

Sunset on the outer Cape that day is close to 6:10 PM, so stage 4 has about half an hour. The time is approximate; check it the day before.

What the plan asks for on the day

  • Reflectors, from both teams
  • A long zoom and a true macro lens, rented
  • One light with battery or generator power for dusk (Cassiano’s 600)
  • The glass tank for the waterline shot
  • Towels, a robe and a warm car for Paula after the water
  • Sand and spray protection for the cameras

Open items 7 open, 1 done

  • Campaign name, from Paula
  • The list of pieces coming to set. Each one needs its own bare-skin shot in stage 1.
  • Final English wording of T3 to T7, from Cassiano
  • Done: The two tracks, with tempo and the blend point
  • Where the film plays, and whether with sound
  • Confirm the logo sits inside the case lid
  • Location rules. If the dunes are inside Cape Cod National Seashore, drones cannot launch, land or operate there without the superintendent’s written approval (National Park Service, in place since 2014). Ask the park about filming rules for a crew this size.
  • Ending: keep the empty case, or cut to a plain logo card
